A few years ago, one of our partners, La Familia Counseling Center, came to us with a challenge. Decades earlier, their founders had articulated a set of values that underlies all aspects of the organization’s work and culture. How to bring this content up to date and ensure all staff are on board with it? That was our job. We started by adapting the founder’s stories and vision to today’s climate and constituents. We then developed and facilitated a series of staff trainings, on-boarding protocol, and communications tools to help the fast-growing team work in unity while remaining grounded in their founding principles. This is storytelling in action!
